Scooter Boy!

We bought this scooter on Ebay for just $10.00! It is a solid scooter unlike some plasticky ones available.

I showed Eugene how to do it a couple of times.

When Eugene first tried it, he would just stand on it to get the feel of it and then get off. He will do this on his own as and when he feels like it.

When he got more comfortable with the scooter, he will stand on it and let me push him around. But that's it. If I try to make him put one foot down on the ground to push, he will refuse.

So I left it at that. This boy, he will do it on his own time. Usually when it's something new to try, he will usually do it step by step till he feels that he is confident.

After practising on his own, he is finally able to push off with one foot down. Yay!

 I can do it!

Not exactly zipping, but at least he got the basics right.

Bob The Builder

Eugene was exposed to Thomas The Toy Train, thanks to my friend JT who passed down to Eugene when her son grew out of it.

JT's son's room is filled with Thomas Train's stuff. I'm not exaggerating, it's full of it. Books, shelves of trains and even a special Thomas Train table. She wanted to pass me everything but I don't have to space to accomodate all of it. Took some of the books appropriate for Eugene's age and told her to keep the rest of the books in storage for me. We only took some of the trains.

Unfortunately, Eugene did not take to Thomas The Train but instead absolutely loves Bob The Builder. I guess he took more to Bob The Builder as he can identify with the construction machines like the crane, excavator that he sees in real life.

Showing off his Bob The Builder set. There's Muck(in red) and Lofty(in blue)!

What is Eugene doing? He's filling up Muck with petrol.
He had plugged the petrol hose into a front hole in Muck - ha, ha, quite imaginative yah.

Whistle !

Eugene have finally learnt how to blow a whistle. He used to try by sucking in air instead of blowing out from his mouth, ha ha.

This is actually a bubble bottle with a whistle on top. I took out that long string later - seemed rather dangerous to have a string around the neck.

Hang On!

Eugene hanging on. On other slides, he will hang onto the bar that is above the slide and swing before going down the slide.

Where did he learnt this? From the other older kids in the same playgroup at StarTots before I took him out because of an appalling incident.

He can also hold on to the edge of our study table, lift his legs off the floor and up to his body and just hang there!

Relax Lah!

Eugene feeling so relax on cousin DL's lap.

Werner's Oven

18 June 2010

Hubby ordered the Farmer's sausage while I ordered the ones with garlic herb. Comes with sauerkraut (preserved cabbage).

We ordered a kid's meal for Eugene. Fish fingers, comes with fries, a drink and ice-cream.

I like my garlic herb sausage better than hubby's Farmer's sausage. The Farmer's sausage, to me, tasted like our fried chinese fish cake, ha ha ha.

But it is delicious though I find it rather pricey paying $21.50 for a sausage.

Wang Thai Kitchen

Post-note : we had gone back recently (Aug'10) and found that the portion is less especially for the green curry chicken. The waiter said that we could order a small - enough for 2 person but when it came, I think I could finish it in a few mouthful and they were so stingy with the green curry gravy.

I think they should have just stayed in their original place which is a stall in a coffee shop. They have very good business then. I think it's because for the uncles and aunties who are wary of ordering Thai food, they could at least order some thai dish to sample while still be able to order the other food at the coffee shop that they are familiar with.

Now, I think the uncles and aunties will feel a bit intimidated stepping into a proper restaurant.

So of cos, having their own place equates to higher rent equates to either charge more or give less portion. I've seen the restaurant rather empty even on a weekend.

But food is still good.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have been patronising this Thai outlet from the time they were just a stall in a coffeeshop to when they shifted a few doors down and opened their own restaurant.

They had took over the space from this Korean restaurant that had closed.

The above are in 'small' portions but it was quite substantial. The Tom-yum soup do pack quite a punch.

On other occasions with friends and families, we had ordered the pork knuckles which everybody loves. I can't give my opinion because I don't eat so much meat and seeing that whole chunk of meat just makes me .........

I especially like the Salted-Egg fried rice which is so fragrant as well as the Salted-Egg prawns. Both are so shiok!

Don't forget the Green Curry Chicken which is rather lemak, though I must say that the portion seemed to have been trimmed down.

But all in all, all the food are good and tasty and the prices reasonable.

Worth a eat.

Aunty MC's advance birthday present for Eugene - Mr. Potato Head!

Eugene having a fun time fixing the different parts of Mr. Potato Head though not necessarily in the correct order.

Ok, so we have a nose in place of an ear and I think that's a tongue in place of the eye-brows - muahahha.......

Youtube & TV Addict

Eugene is a good natured happy boy but lately he has been becoming very whiny and should I say, throwing tantrums (is it the terrible twos?). Of course all kids have their naughty moments but somehow, the attitude and manners are more fierce and aggressive.

He does not have those tantrum where the child screams and roll on the floor kind of tantrum. He will usually shout and stomp his feet. But coming from him, it is not so normal as all along he is not like this.

Usually it happens when he is denied viewing the Youtube and TV.

Hmm......

Hubby and I have read about the detrimental effects of tv watching for young kids. Can this be the reason?

Eugene gets to watch 1/2 hour in the morning (TV cartoons) when I need to do my morning business.
About 1 to 1 1/2 hours at about 5pm (Dvds Bob the Builder, Elmo's World, Baby Can Read, others)
About 1 hour in the evening after dinner (Youtube - of real excavators, cranes, bulldozers etc)

Could this be too much viewing? I've just read that it should not be more than 2 hours a day.

We decided to wean him off.

He's only allowed to watch at 5pm for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours only. That's it.

The 1st  day, he was very upset and whiny and getting angry. But by the next day, he wasn't calling out to see 'Bob, Bob'(Bob the Builder).

It has been slightly more than 1 week since, and what a change! He's getting back to his good-natured ways and best of all, he's back to looking at his books which he had abandoned during his tv days.

So if you find your child getting whiny, angry, throwing tantrums - could it be that he/she is watching too much?

HDB Gallery

I sometimes bring Eugene to 'walk-walk' around the HDB Hub area.

I've being to the HDB Gallery many years back and I came away rather impressed with the whole set-up. They have a walk-thru to the various type of flats that was first being built. I can't remember a lot of the details but as I've said, I was rather impressed.

So I was rather excited to show Eugene the HDB Gallery.

What happened? They had re-done the whole set-up.

These 2 show-case of the old flats were on the side of the walkway to the entrance of the gallery.
I remembered in the previous gallery, you actually walk thru the flats which was so much more interesting - you are actually standing inside the kitchen or the hall.

Hello, what's this? Posters and panels of words on the wall - who reads it? Feels like it's being put up for the sake of putting it up.

This is mostly what you get. You walk along and have these small corners which showcase the development of S'pore's housing which you can view by touching the screen in front.

A make-believe waterfall behind the pond.

See those pillars of green lights. You're supposed to read the text that're written on it - stupid - so hard to read 'cos of the light and also have questions on it for you to answer. Frankly, most people will walk right pass it.

There's a short movie shown on a 360 degree screen. Yes, this I like.

There's a booth where you can take pics of yourself and send the pics to your own email.

So disappointed with the HDB Gallery. Really, what happened?

The props that are being put up are so amateurish. The layout is terrible. There's not much thought being put into the whole set-up.

You come away feeling that because they have to have a gallery, they just put in whatever there is.

Hey HDB, bring back the previous gallery.

This present one is AMATEURISH AND BORING!!!!!!

Eugene playing at the HDB Hub.

So what do you think of the HDB Gallery, Eugene?
Yep, nothing much to see.

FRIENDS

A friend from UK sent me an email of the below. It said to send it to every friend - I will post it here and everybody, friends or strangers can read and reflect on it.

Thank you LC.

People come into your life for a Reason,
a Season or a Lifetime.

When you know which one it is,
you will know what to do for that person...

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
to provide you with guidance and support,

To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.

They may seem like a godsend and they are.

They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at
an inconvenient time, this person will say or do
something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.

Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met,
our desire fulfilled, their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has been answered and
now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.

They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
things you must build upon in order to have a

solid emotional foundation

Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person
and put what you have learned to use in all other
relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Angels exist, only sometimes they haven't got
wings and we call them friends.
