Marina Barrage

20 November 2010

Heard so much about the Marina Barrage that we have to go and check it out.

Oh, so this is where the 7th Storey steamboat restaurant have shifted to. They used to be at the 7th Storey hotel at Beach Road.

Hubby and I used to have steamboat at Beach Road. The hainanese chicken is very good and the rice too, they will serve you the chicken rice instead of plain rice even for the steamboat. But what I liked best of all is their chicken rice chilli - it's those that have a layer of sesame oil - so fragrant.

I took a quick look at their steamboat menu - not cheap hor - for 2 persons, expect to pay about $40ish - if you want fish, please add extra $$$.

Marina Bay Sands looks very impressive.

THE GREEN ROOF

There is a shop there selling knick-knacks and kites. Hubby had a chat with one of sales-girl and apparently, kite enthusiasts even fly their kites at night even after midnight.

So how do they see their kites at night? Well, the shop sells some kind of light attachment that you can attach to your kite. Must be quite a sight to behold.

THE WATER PLAYGROUND
Eugene initially refused to play in the water playground. He was apprehensive of the gushing waters.

I just carried him into the area and he started crying. I guess I should not have rushed him.
Eugene likes to watch first and I guess see if it's safe or not.

 Here he is - watching...........

We actually left and explore the rest of the barrage before coming back to the water playground again.

Hubby led by example. Hubby went in the water and walk around while Eugene looks on. After seeing that hubby is ok and the water is not scary, Eugene allowed hubby to lead him.

It's not scary after all!

 *
As you can see from the video, his shorts is almost slipping off due to the wet, heavy and expanded diaper.

I'm quite impressed with the thoughtfulness and design of this row of wash areas.

I was quite worried that Eugene would be shivering after his washing. But as we approach the area, I can feel the warm air. Seemed that the round structure houses some engines and warm air is coming out of it. There's no smell or anything, just warm air.

Water soaked diaper. It got so big and heavy that it was dragging his shorts down.

Eugene loves this hoodie t-shirt that I had bought for him quite sometime back.

An ice-cream treat!

123 Train Puzzle

Bought more puzzles for Eugene since he likes puzzles.

I had always thought that Eugene is not very good at his numbers and alphabets.

When I try to teach him by pointing out the numbers or by flash cards and asking him to repeat after me, he loses interest after a while.

As I had blogged in an earlier post, Eugene dont' like rote learning.

So my method is to point things out to him and incorporated the alphabets and numbers learning in my everyday conversation with him. Have to make it like I'm not forcing him to memorize it.

So when we bought this numbers puzzle for him, I thought that he would only know how to do it much later.

One day, he said he wanted to do the puzzle and asked me to do it together with him. I sat down on the floor with him and we did the puzzle together.

Eugene dismantled the puzzle when it was done and now wanted to do it by himself.

I left him to do it while I busied myself in the kitchen - occasionally peeking at him to see how he is doing.

Imagine my surprise! He's able to put the numbers in sequence as well as the correct number of animals on top of the numbers.

This means he knows the numbers and how to count.

I'm so proud of him leh, since hubby and I don't force or push him to learn.

The completed puzzle.

We bought 2 boxes of puzzles from Toys R Us.

The 1st box contained 2 sets of puzzle : 1 set of Numbers puzzle and 1 set of Alphabet puzzle.

Have not started Eugene on the ABC puzzle yet.

The 2nd box is of Wild Animals. I told hubby that this one is too advance. Even I would really have to scrutinise in order to piece it together. But hubby was very insistent, saying that Eugene can do it when he's older. But I think hubby want it for himself, ha ha.

LEGO Skyscraper

One day, Eugene was stacking up his lego bricks.

Me : What are you building, Eugene?

Eugene : Plam. plam

Me : what?

Eugene : Plam

He then showed me the dvd of Bob The Builder. Huh?

Then it hit me, he's showing me the dvd where at the back there's Bob holding up a plan to build a skyscraper.
In the dvd, Bob the Builder teaches that you must have a plan in order to build something.

And so he's following the plan to build a skyscraper.

Tada ! - The finished Skyscraper.

Hmm, will he be a future Engineer?

He likes doing things with his hands, much more than looking at books.

But in order to become an Engineer, he still have to study his books right?
