Halloween @ School 2012

31 October 2012

I saw in the term letter to parents that there'll be a dress up party on Halloween. But since the teacher didn't mentioned anything after, I didn't ask hoping maybe no need to do anything :) (yes, I'm kind of lazy to do this kind of stuff).

But then one day, picking up the kid after class, teacher said to dress up the kid for Halloween the day after tomorrow. Yikes ! that means I have only a day to prepare.

How ? How ? I thronged almost all of the shops in Toa Payoh Central - just buy something lor.

The ones that are inexpensive - aiyo, what is this? The ones that are quite nice - wah, so expensive for this piece of cardboard ?

Ok, think I'll go to Popular bookstore and diy.

I walked thru, hoping for inspirations.

I came to the paper section - hmm..... maybe I can make batwings out of the black cardboard.

Then I came across some crepe papers  and aha !

Guess what I'm making ?

A Dracula/Vampire Cape !
The crepe papers' huge and I half it for both the black and red. Then I glued them together.
I then put the plastic bag (which had contained the crepe paper), fold it under and tape it and there, you have the stiff collar.

Draw the eyebrows and a pair of fangs and voila !

SAFRA Toa Payoh Opening

27 October 2012

Went to the opening.

Kidz Amaze was giving free half hour play.

It's actually not that big or tall as claimed but for the kids it should be fun.

It's like a maze. There are nooks and corners and openings - you'll have to figure it out.

But it seemed that most of the kids prefer the toddlers' area and guess what's the hit among the kids ?

Eugene waiting for the basket to tilt over.

It's that basket up there where all the kids will throw the balls into or put it in a tube where it will be suck up to the basket.
Then wait for the basket to tilt over and pouring all the balls all over the kids !
Everyone will let out a big yell - adults included - when it happened.
No need for any complicated stuff - it's the simple stuff that the kids enjoy.

The kid managed to get to the upper level. He didn't know he was that high until he looked out and down. I saw his face turning into a grimace and wanted to cry - but I try not to say anything that might make it worse, like 'don't be scared' 'cos then it will reinforce his fear.

I pretend not to see his fear on his face, I put on a cheery face and wave to him and giving him the thumbs up.

He wanted to come down but didn't want to go via the net again - I told him to look out for another exit on the other side but he was too scared - so I told him that he then have to go down by the net.

He then gingerly felt his way and he made it - you should see his face, it was a face of triumph - that he overcame his fear and made his way down. He was looking at me with such a proud face.

At the basement carpark, you can see thru to the swimming pool. Sorry, but that's the cars' being reflected onto the glass tank.

Went back to SAFRA another day and had dinner at this Kkongdon BBQ (Korean). The marinated pork belly was very delicious. I ordered also the fish roe rice which I liked very much.

Bollywood Veggies

26 October 2012

The 1st time we went to Bollywood Veggies was before we had Eugene.

I remembered that there was hardly any people in the cafe.

And now what a difference !  That day we were there, it was so packed with people. They have put lots more tables and chairs outside the air-con cafe. There was a stall selling their Banana cake (yes, absolutely delicious) and shells and miscellaneous stuff.

I had the assam fish, hubby got the nasi lemak and Eugene had his western breakfast meal.

The food's still good though the portions are substantially smaller (western meal was ok portion wise) - we had to order some dessert (hmm... maybe that's the way to get the customer to order more stuff).

There's basketball and hoopla hoops to keep the kids occupied.

The owner Ivy Singh Lim toasting everybody but no champagne for the diners.
Saw her husband there too.

The kid finished everything.

This is a good idea - kept the kid occupied while we have a leisurely lunch and drink while still been able to keep an eye on him.

Plenty of lotus - what a sight. Didn't expect to see so many.

The swing was too high and my legs couldn't reach the ground to push off.
Boy ah, push harder lah.
Well, the kid just gave a tab and ran off, afraid that I might swing into him.

Ha ha, the S'poreans will know the joke on this.

Animal Resort

20 October 2012

Saw some family blogs and most of them have featured this 'Animal Resort'.

Supposed to be very kampong - yes, very kampong but it is also very run-down.

It seemed to be a big area but you are confined to the front area.

Expected to see more animals (as some blogs have shown) but ...... let me count .....

there's the geese, 3 ducks, 1 horse, some parrots, 2 cranes, fishes and some rabbits and hamsters in cages - well, that's at least what we saw when we were there. I felt quite disappointed lor.

But guess what - Eugene enjoyed it tremendously and wanted to go back again.

We bought some animal feeds from the owners.

Eugene love feeding the geese. Thought that he would be scared but he was very brave.
Actually I was the one who's scared, ha ha.

Poor duckie - alone ......

He loves feeding the rabbits too.

Er... don't know what this bird is. Looks like a prehistoric bird to me.

I like the cranes. So colourful. See how tall they are.

Lower Seletar Water-Play

14 October 2012

I had wanted to bring Eugene to this water-play place ever since seeing it on some blogs.

We went a couple of months ago but couldn't find it - I told hubby it was Lower Pierce reservoir instead, oops !

So now we got it right.

Eugene didn't dare to go to the fountain area. He didn't like the loud gushing sounds that the fountains make.

He prefer the shallow water area.
