Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Water Park

05 October 2013

Little dams/doors to regulate the flow of water.

Don't go to the wrong part of the park.

Note : The children's water playground is in operation only on weekends; 8am to 11am and 4pm to 8pm.
(although we went around 1pm, the water was still flowing and the kid played till around 2pm before the water stopped, so we were quite lucky, otherwise the kid will be so disappointed)

Prive @ Keppel Bay

03 October 2013

Prive Cafe

Normal Western food though their prawn bisque soup was excellent.

Chill out and view the scenery.

 Checking out the surrounding areas.

Nice walkway.

There is also a small park - ideal place if you want to pak-tor - can makan and take a nice romantic stroll along the walkways.

Jurassic Safari @ Chinese Garden

19 September 2013

The flyer said "hundreds of lanterns brightening up the entire area" - huh?

I had been previously many years ago to their lantern light-up and it was spectacular! Fantastic display of lanterns - not the usual round or square lanterns - but of storybook characters etc.

So I was very excited to see what they have brought in this year.

I walked and walked - where's the lantern display?

I only saw this old man display .....

and the lanterns that we cross the bridge to get into the garden ....................

and some typical round lanterns along the path way inside the garden.................

We passed by some areas and it was all in darkness. What music were they playing during this lantern festival? - some pop English songs.

What happened? It was really a disappointment regarding the lanterns.

Flyer said "roaming dinosaurs" - I thought it was some guys in a dinosaur walking around (the ones I saw on internet was fantastic as it was very realistic ) - but it was stationary dinosaurs with moving heads and tails.

But Eugene loved the dinos as he gets to find the dinos and identify it. To their credit, the dinos were pretty awesome.

Ootoya @ Orchard Central

12 September 2013

Our group looking for a place to gather to makan and chit-chat.

I suggested to dine at Orchard Central as it's not so crowded as it seemrf that most of the crowds prefer Somerset 313 and others.

The food here is good and very affordable ! It looked like it's kind of small portion but actually when it came it was rather substantial.

The dessert was a bit of a disappointment though. We ordered the green tea ice-cream and some kind of custard, think we had 3-4 desserts - when it came, it all tasted the same. Just use the same ingredients but display it differently, hmmmmmmm.........

But overall, good especially the grilled pork loin.

Mid-Autumn @ Chinatown

11 September 2013

 Rather disappointed with the light-ups.

The lanterns looked so bright but in reality the bulbs were so dim that I thought they were not lighted up. Hubby said they used the wrong kind of bulbs.

Maybe it's not totally lighted up yet when we went that day as we saw only a small stretch of the road lighted up and the rest further down and the gigantic lantern not lighted up.

Malaysian Food Street @ Resort World Sentosa

10 September 2013

It's indoor (air-con) made to look like it's outdoor.

Really reminds you of old Malaysia, yah

Laksa ? No, it Hae-Mee (Hokkien Prawn Mee). Look at that gravy and you know it's good! Slurped up to the very last drop.

Chendol with lemak (thick) coconut milk. The coconut milk didn't taste like the fresh type to me - I wonder if they use the carton ones or was it an 'off' day that day?

We also tried

- the 'lor-bak' - absolutely delicious. This is like our 'ngor-hiang'.

- the Briyani. Ok, you can give this a miss - they didn't use the good long grain basmati rice. The ones in S'pore are so so much better.

- Wanton Mee. Normal.

- Assam Laksa. Don't miss this - the best !!! (no photo, it was all gone by the time I was ready to snap a pic).

CATS !

3 sparklers lighting up

The kid was scared at first but I know that later he will be able to do it.
Eugene's the type where he would not do something if he's not familiar with it. He will observe first and then he will try.

We had a fun time !

Thanks mommy H for organising this little lantern gathering.

Wine Connection

31 August 2013

One of the rare occasions that was just hubby and me out for the night.

The kid was with my mom who's staying with us temporarily after my dad's death.

The tapas and drinks were reasonable.

The Mohamed Sultan road area is so different now. It used to be that there was a whole row of pubs along this road but now there are none but just eateries. But that was a long time ago.

Guess age is really catching up 'cos I don't feel any excitement or thrill in going to pubs or clubs or whatever you call it. Music's loud and can hardly converse with the other person.

I much prefer hanging out with my kakis and chit-chatting the night away.

Telescope

Hubby got a new hobby - looking at planets and stars through his new telescope.

At my in-laws' place as he try to set the telescope up and how to use it as it has an auto-tracking thingy.

Moon
This was taken on the 18 August'13.

This was taken on the 20 September'13 - around Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Moon was really big, round and super bright.

We saw Saturn too ! But it was kind of small though you can still make out the rings.

Hubby said he will most probably get a higher magnification so that we can see Saturn clearer.

Singapore Pledge & Anthem

04 August 2013

I do not know the pledge in Mandarin but I think the kid forgot some of the words - but I'm still so proud of him as his Chinese intonation is so much better now.
