Jelly Belly

15 November 2013

Aunt Jie Jie FJ bought a Jelly Belly for Eugene. She bought also 2 tubes of jellies and 1 tube of Smarties.

Eugene wanted to bring this and treat his friends as it was the last day of class and we won't be seeing some of the older kids who will be graduating to Primary 1.

We put the jellies in but the jellies got stuck in the tube due to the jellies sticking together. So in the end, we bought more Smarties to fill it up.

Out, out, faster.....

It went into their mouths real fast.......

More, more............... and soon there were none.

YUMMY !

I waited till the parents/grandparents/minders come to get the kids in order to ask if it's ok for their kids to eat chocolates as I don't know if any of them are allergic to chocolates or maybe they are not allowed to have chocolates.

Thanks FJ for the Jelly Belly - it was a hit !

My Wish

The other day, we were just sitting around and chatting about travels.

Eugene was asking if I had seen and feel snow and thus I started to tell him about some of the places I've been.

I told him that I regretted not having gone to see this.

What is it ? It's the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis.

I had wanted very much to go but it was really way up north and during that time, I couldn't find much info on how to get around to do it and I went instead to Scandinavia, on my own.

One day, one day ...........

Numbers

The kid likes maths. Yep, you heard right, maths.

Teacher has been teaching the class addition and subtraction and he's been asking questions about multiplication, factions and 'minus' like what is 2-3 instead of 3-2 (and he can give you the correct answers to 'minus' sums).

Whoa, hold on there boy. Let's really get the basic right first before going into harder territory.

He has also been requesting to go for maths class after he saw this new centre teaching mathematics through using physical stuff to explain, very much like the Montessori way.

Ok, so we brought him to look see and the teacher there gave him an assessment too - got almost all correct except one which was due to carelessness.

We will most probably sign him up for it as we don't like the route way of learning that other places are coaching. And also, they have theory maths - I don't know what you call it but it's those maths where it's like a story and you're suppose to figure it out, understand that this is how the primary maths is like now.

Ok, my math's really bad, as in really bad and I don't like to think numbers and the kid's been giving me headache by testing my maths - yes, he's giving me the maths problem instead of me asking him, Hubby is good in maths and I will tell the kid to test daddy instead, ha ha.

So as I said, we'll most probably sign him up for the maths class as he has an interest in it.

I bought this how to tell time book quite a while back, thinking to let him try much later but he found it and very diligently completed the whole booklet by himself without any prompting. Those he don't know, he asked hubby to help explain.
I guess he liked doing it as time is numbers.

Halloween @ School 2013

30 October 2013

This is what he made in school for Halloween.  He drew all the figures and cut it out with help from the teachers.

The kid wants to be a ninja.

Halloween @ SAFRA Toa Payoh 2013

27 October 2013

Juggling show

Science show

Best Halloween Costume Competition

1st - this daddy was so sporting. He was prancing around like a ninja with his ninja poses.

2nd - the one in white (skeleton) was quite scary.

3rd - Harry Potter boy (he's so cute) and Chinese Dumbledore ....lol......

Game time - Hoop the Pumpkin

Suck up the pieces

At Kids Amaze

Hmm.... what can I say about the halloween event at SAFRA Toa Payoh.

The games - only two which was the Hoop the Pumpkin and sucking up some pieces of paper. It was not that well thought out, not exciting and the prizes are not that great like a piece of paper with instruction to fold origami or a pencil. Please, if you want to do it, do it proper - otherwise just forego it.

Kidz Amaze - I thought that there will be a facilitator to have some kind of stuff to do with the kids. Instead it's just like any other day - play on your own - only difference was that they decorate the place with Halloween stuff. The only event by them was the Race where you have to go round the club to search for stuff and get a prize when you complete it.

I felt that the whole set-up was rather amateurish and boring and was quite disappointed. But since it was free (except for Kidz Amaze, must pay), cannot be fussy lor.

Tim Ho Wan @ Toa Payoh

11 October 2013

Tim Ho Wan at Toa Payoh - how could I not try it out.

Went with 2 of my friends and since I stay in TP, I kena go to queue.

What can I say........... I guess expectation was high and thus when we tasted the food, we didn't go WOW.

The dishes we tried were just ok, it did not blow us away.......... and I'm not the only one saying it. People I know who had tried were also not that WOW by it.

I prefer the usual 'over-stewed' ones with spices.
This was a tad too bland for me.

Overpowering ginger taste in the liver chi-cheong-fun.

Normal leh.

This jelly not bad.

The only dish I like was their best-seller - the char-siew buns.
I like the outer which is crisp and buttery.
My favourite.
(that bite was from my fren C who couldn't wait to sink his teeth into it)

Hubby said we should have tried their har-gow and siew-mai - can taste it's freshness.

Well, what can I say................

The Michelin Star is at their Hong Kong outlet, not in Singapore.

Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Water Park

05 October 2013

Little dams/doors to regulate the flow of water.

Don't go to the wrong part of the park.

Note : The children's water playground is in operation only on weekends; 8am to 11am and 4pm to 8pm.
(although we went around 1pm, the water was still flowing and the kid played till around 2pm before the water stopped, so we were quite lucky, otherwise the kid will be so disappointed)
