Changi City Point Mall

13 October 2012

I like Changi City Point Mall. It doesn't feel claustrophobic - could be because of the high ceiling and pockets of open spaces and air-wells.

Didn't really explore all the shops but heard that there are a number of factory outlets.

Had dinner at Eggs & Berries.

We sat outside as inside was full. But it wasn't stuffy as there are ceiling fans.

Nice presentation.

Hubby's wagyu beef. Not very exciting.

I prefer "Food For Thoughts" which has a similar food concept to 'Eggs & Berries'. Somehow there are more oomph in the food from "Food For Thoughts".

One thing we were very pleased with - excellent service, which is very rare.

Walking down and we came across the water-play area.

Walking across the wobbly bridge.

Daddy, I'm scared, help me.....

Soon, he was swinging like a monkey.

Caged Playground @ J8

12 October 2012

After Eugene's painting session, we walked around and went to the open area at the mall.

The last time, it was under renovation. Hmm.... what's outside now.

A caged playground, well, that's what I call it.

Eugene's too short and unable to hoist himself to the next level.

He can only go up this ramp.......

and slide down the slide.

The kid trying to rock climb - legs too short to get onto the next foot-hole.

Let's try the fireman pole - mommy carry me ! aiyoh, how to carry you up there? you are so heavy now.
That older boy tried and landed on his butt - ouch!

har.. think I'll stick to the swing for a while.

Borsch Steakhouse

06 October 2012

Russian Hainanese food ?

This place reminds me of 'Shashlik' where you have the Borsch soup and the Alaskan.

Even the servers are like the servers at 'Shashlik' - old but not as old as the ones at 'Shashlik', glum face but not as sour-faced as at 'Shashlik'.

And the food, well, not fantastic but edible lah.

Borsch soup tasted like minestrone soup.

Hainanese pork chop rice does not have enough vinegar in the gravy.

Saw other tables ordering the steak and hot-plate fish. Looks very dry to me.

I only like the prices - very good reasonable prices.

Would I come back here - no, unless no choice - like if other places around the area are full.

Look at this baby-chair - absolutely vintage - very quaint yar...

Chef Daniel's Kitchen

05 October 2012

It's been a long time that we dined at Olive Tree at Intercontinental Hotel for their Mediterranean buffet but......... there ain't any.......ain't any Mediterranean buffet that is.

It's now offering local cuisine like roti-prata, porridge with ikan bilis, peanuts etc...  Huh? what happened har? I thought their Mediterranean buffet was good and also popular as it was always full - maybe their chef left?

Well, we started to hunt for another restaurant and decided to check out Bugis+.  Went to the uppermost floor and came across 'Chef Daniel's Kitchen'. Ok lah, go in as the kid was whiny and hungry.

Hmm........ seems like Asian Fusion.

Situated on the rooftop.
The big kitchen is separate from the main dining area.

Eugene finished this all by himself.
Can't remember what kind of soup, tasted good with the egg and roasted garlic.

Yummy escargot. Can't really go wrong with the garlic and cheese sauce.

Lamb shanks for hubby. That's mashed potatoes on the top, not scallops

I had the fish as I'm not really into meat.

Making Crepe Suzette.

We have not had this dessert for the longest time as not many places serve it.
It tasted so good.

The food's not wow but it's definitely above average and the prices reasonable.

Sand Art

05 October 2012

Well, that's what I call it.

He wanted to 'sand' Ben-10.

First we do the outline.

He wanted a half blue jacket instead of green for Ben-10

Admiring his art work.

Ta-daa ! Ben-10 in half pink jacket and pink pants ! (muahahaha ! - laughing to myself lah)

Lantern Gathering

30 September 2012

Went to in-laws' place to join the neighbour's lantern walk around the area.

Eugene with my sis-in-law.
Sis-in-law's carrying the lantern that Eugene made in class. It's actually an inverted plastic container with a tea-light stuck on the bottom - quite an ingenious idea from the teacher.

Hubby dropped us off below our flat before he went to park the car and lo and behold, there was a lantern gathering at the playground. Naturally Eugene asked to go. And hubby and I were just mentioning why our estate was so quiet this time round.

Eugene helped to light up some of the candles on the ground when the wind blew out the flame in some of the candles.

Somebody was having a birthday celebration and we got to eat a slice of the ice-cream cake. Thanks!

There, the elusive moon - hiding behind some building.
